Carey celebrates literature

My favourite part of the festival was doing the tressure hunt with my buddy and my friend’s buddy.  I also enjoyed having lunch and reading my poem to my buddies. I liked doing the tressure hunt because it was fun and interesting to see how smart my buddy and her friend was, it turned out that they were smarter then my friend and I.

I learnt that drawing doesn’t just come to you, it takes practice and you aren’t just good at it straight away. I learnt how drawing can calm you down and how Mark Wilson first started writing his books. I also learnt about his history and how he gets his ideas for books.

Did you have fun at the festival?

Year 5 market

Year 5 market!

Today was the year 5 market and honestly it wasn’t as easy as I thought. I was so nervous when it came to the very moment our stall opened. All the trouble and arguments between my team finally payed off, we managed to solve our problems and it was totally worth it. Everything we had managed to sell really well, we ended up with no more products except the chip packet keychains. We all Also was able to meet James Macready-Bryan. It was an amazing experience that I will never forget. Seeing James and Robyn walking through the stalls made me understand why we were doing the year 5 market, it made me want to help even more.

My group Neon had all kinds of products, we had bookmarks, painted rocks, chip packet keychains, stress balls and notepads, we even had a shoot for loot station.

We each had $15 to spend, we all got breaks to go and look around to see if we wanted to bye something.

The journey we’ve been through was tough but it was all worth it.  The year 5 market went by in a blink, I remember when we started brain storming ideas for products and now it feels like all our hard work was wasted on one day!

It was one of the best experiences in my life, I never thought I would be behind a counter receiving money and giving things to people.

We faced a lot of challenges, we had some arguments but we always managed to solve them. Knowing that our hard work will help others made me feel so good about myself.

I felt so proud of my group and me for putting in so much effort into it. It felt so good to have all our products sold out because people liked them and actually wanted it. It was the best experience ever!

I learnt how to work in a team, it felt so good to be part of something so amazing! Working in a team wasn’t as easy as I thought. I thought it would be much easier. I learnt that being part of a group meant that I had to listen to my other teammates and not just do my own thing. But it was so amazing that I definitely want to do it again!

A few weeks before the year 5 market my other teammate Patrick and I wrote to Josh Frydenberg, we did get a response from him saying he wasn’t sure if he could make it. He didn’t end up coming but it was great to get a response from him.

Some advice for the year 5s of next year is to try do some pillows and pompom headbands. Maybe some bookmarks might work to! Maybe don’t to chip packet keychains because they weren’t a big hit. Getting ready for the year 5 market isn’t as easy as it looks, you might have some arguments but the arguments you have are easy to solve. Preparing for it is really stressful but it was an amazing experience!( and it’s so fun! )

Overall it was so fun and an amazing experience that I will never forget! So for the year 5s of next year definitely look forward to it!

have you ever had an experience as good as this?

Buddy reading

This week at our school we have celebrated Literature week. In house, we read stories with our buddies.

Ordering decimals on a number line

Well in class we started ordering decimals on number lines. We had 6 decimats and we had to draw any decimal on it and we draw a number line and used arrows to show were it belonged. Here is the one I did. Have any of you done anything like it?

Shoot for loot

Come to our shoot for loot game at the year 5 market and experience the game called basketball like you’ve never before. How can you say no to playing a game where you can win amazing prizes?

Year 5 market update

Blog post

NEON

Well so far our year 5 market is going pretty well, we’ve made the water colour bookmarks, stress/juggling ball, chip packet key rings and done most of the shoot for loot things. So all we need is the painted rocks ( which Grace is doing ) and the notebooks. We’ve had some arguments but we always find a solution and end up agreeing. We have all shown persistence by not giving up.

A few weeks ago Patrick and I wrote a letter to Josh Frydenberg, a week after he wrote back, we are still unsure if he is coming or not. He might he might not, I don’t know. Grace wrote to Target to donate toys but they haven’t written back. Ned asked Kmart for a gift card. Tom wrote to target for a gift card but that hasn’t received a response.
